    Description

Album of 127 photographic copies of rare photos of Native Americans and Artifact
Album of 150 photographic copies of rare photos of Native Americans and Artifacts
Here is an annotated album of 127 pages created by Alvin Thomas Jackson containing mounted gelatin silver process photographic copies of photographs from the A.B. Stephenson Collection, including photos of the William S. Soule Album from the Briscoe Center at the University of Texas at Austin, Also copies from the N.H.Rose Collection The Handbook Of American Indians, and the Catlin Indian Gallery . There are 70 plus photos of Native Americans and the remaining pages feature artifacts and related images and clippings. The album features Mr. Jacksons notes on the subjects and source of each photo. Original photos were copied by Massengale White using gelatin silver process.
Some of the tribes shown are: Apache, Kiowa, Comanche, and Tankawa. Many identifications of individual persons are included.
It is unusual to find such a varied collection of this type of photos of Native Americans in such good condition.
Photos measure 6 1/2 by 4 3/4. We believe they were most likely made during the 1930's when Jackson wrote his first book.
Photos were collected under fair use copyright meaning educational, and cannot be used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, and research. Rights for the original photos reside with their owners.
