The lot presents a work of art made in a single copy in honor of the opening of the container terminal by the Ukrtranscontainer enterprise on November 16, 2007, which became the only one capable of receiving on a regular basis large ocean-going container ships going directly from the ports of Asia to the Black Sea. The operator of this terminal and the customer for the production of this ceremonial work of art is the private enterprise “Ukrtranscontainer”, which is part of the structure of the Russian “National Container Company” - the leader among terminal container operators in the territory of the former Union. During the implementation of the first stage there were, in particular:
— 2 berths (Nos. 3, 4) with a total berth wall of 320 m were reconstructed;
— their water area was dredged to 13.5 m;
— two post-Panamax quayside container cranes (STS) from Noell Fantuzzi Group, 6 rear container cranes (RTG) from Konecranes, 16 port tractors from Terberg and other equipment were purchased;
— berth and rear loaders and container trucks belonging to IMTP were overhauled and modernized;
— a site for storing and processing containers was built, which can accommodate up to 6 thousand TEU;
— a new platform for refrigerated containers with 414 sockets was built.
According to the director of the private enterprise “Ukrtranscontainer” Anastas Kokkin, this event is significant not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire Black Sea basin. Until now, the only one that had such capabilities in the Black Sea region was the Romanian container terminal in Constanta.
