    Description

This unique collectible has a photo transfer of a Jicarilla Apache Maiden, applied to a slab of slate or stone. The slab measures about 6 ¼” tall x about 5” wide x ½” thick. The transfer is vintage daguerreotype shades of brown and blends in with the stone. The back of the slab has a clear sticker attached with the following info: Jicarilla Maiden Apache/circa 1904 #204 The edges of this slab are ragged as if chiseled from a larger slab. I do not know the age or the maker of this unique collectible, but it is in very good condition. There are some tiny “chips” (peeling) on the transfer print, but that adds to the vintage affect.

    Photo Transfer on Slate Slab
This unique collectible has a photo transfer of a Jicarilla Apache Maiden, applied to a slab of slate or stone.  The slab measures about 6 ¼” tall x about 5” wide x ½” thick.  The transfer is vintage daguerreotype shades of brown and blends in with the stone.
The Jicarilla Apache are reserved and private people.  They believe in the interconnection of all things and that one should live in balance with nature.  This image of a Jicarilla Maiden was taken in 1905 by Edward S. Curtis and shows the maiden in a half-length portrait in traditional dress.
The back of the slab has a clear sticker attached with the following info:
    Jicarilla Maiden
    Apache/circa 1904
    #204
There is also a mark on the back where another sticker had been attached, presumably with the manufacturer’s mark.
The edges of this slab are ragged as if chiseled from a larger slab.  I do not know the age or the maker of this unique collectible, but it is in very good condition. There are some tiny “chips” (peeling) on the transfer print, but that adds to the vintage affect.  It’s a great addition to your Native American collection or a unique piece to display.
