Here is a very rare and stunningly beautiful original Belgian movie poster from the first release of Cecil B. DeMille's silent religious epic,
The
King Of Kings
. This important film depicted the last weeks in the life of Jesus of Nazareth as portrayed by H. B. Warner. The movie was a huge box office hit and was the first film to be premiered at the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater. It is also notable as having two Technicolor scenes which was rare in 1927. This poster is from the 1st release of the film in Belgium probably in late 1928 or early 1929. The artwork is remarkably beautiful and was later used again with minor alterations when the film was re-released with a musical soundtrack in the early Thirties. Despite a few condition issues, this poster is in very good shape after 92 years. Of course, it could benefit from a bit of restoration and backing, but it is not absolutely necessary. This posters displays well as is. It doesn't come up for sale or auction very often and would make a great addition to anyone's silent movie poster collection.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN/SIZE: Belgium  24.5" x 38"
CONDITION:
Good Condition. Theater snipe with imprinted exhibition information attached to top border. A tax stamp is also attached in this area. A piece of the top right corner of the snipe is missing. A few small tears and bumps in the white borders. Fold separations in the middle vertical fold at the top and bottom border areas not affecting the artwork. Originally folded as issued, this poster has been stored rolled for the past 20 years and will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube.
