    Description

This is a rare, original WWII 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) "Currahee" scrapbook. This is the unit history book of the famous 506th PIR. This book is a first edition, printed in 1945 shortly after the war ended. This book includes loads of information about the 506th PIR during World War II. It includes text and pictures covering the period from July 20, 1942 to July 4, 1945, including training and all of the combat operations of the regiment during the war. Several officers are pictured, including Major Richard "Dick" Winters, the leader of Easy Company (the "Band of Brothers"). There are 7 onionskin maps present in the book, detailing events during the Battle of the Bulge. There are also rosters of those members of the unit who were killed in action. This book is in overall good, used condition. It shows signs of wear. The covers show some spotting and the front cover is warped/curved somewhat. The spine shows wear. The onionskin maps have some creases/folds, but no tears. Please see pictures to judge the condition of this book. The famous 506th PIR was a regiment in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. It saw extensive combat in the European Theater of Operations, participating in D-Day, Operation Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge. The 506th PIR included the famous "Band of Brothers" (Easy Company) portrayed in the HBO miniseries. This very rare, first edition book would make an excellent addition to any military library.
