    Description

    Camp Swift, Texas Pocket Guide
Original WW2 soldier's guide book to Camp Swift, Texas, published by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Soft cover, small pocket-size format, 16 pages covering a brief history of the camp, activities and services, and tips on telephone usage [like how to avoid those long lines at the phones and rates for long-distance calls from the camp to various locations in Texas and across the USA]. According to the booklet, Swift was known as the "Model Camp Of The United States", and "In the hottest of Texas summers, it is fanned by breezes from the Gulf of Mexico". [Anyone who's ever been to the camp in the summer will disagree with that statement.]
Minor bug bites to spine and a crease down center from being folded, otherwise undamaged. Located east of Austin between Bastrop and Elgin, the camp was home to several Divisional size units, notably the 95th, 97th, and 102nd Infantry Divisions, and 10th Mountain Division. Nice piece for any collector of Camp Swift memorabilia and is in good condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
